40/561 in a 75K tourney @ the pokerfest.

Top 80 paid. So nice stuff :) I pulled myself together and focused as needed/mentioned earlier. So positive the feedback worked. Let's hope that it's the trend for this week at the pokerfest ;)

1 week pokerfest recap

I've hit 4 price positions. 2-3 times I've lost qualifiers to inferior hands in allins to big tourneys (KK - Ax). Some of the pokerfest tournaments cost more than I'm used to play and with no big earnings yet it's not great for my bankroll :( I can't really use this week as statistical data for my decision making on going pro as it isn't representative for the games being hosted at the sites all year. It's important to focus on focusing! There's no room for errors playing with some of the pros. Playing until the late hours is tough when I can't get my beauty sleep. I've bought a sleeping couch recently for my computer room which I can crash on when playing late. Here I won't get woken by doves or the gf going for work :) ... Hopefully the coming week will prove that I've learned something from the first week. Tonight there's 75k rebuy tourney and more. Just need to catch a couple of Z's before I'm fresh for fight. See you later ;)

Sunday: Top 500 in a low stakes 3500 entry tourney

This was my 4th. price position in the pokerfest at party poker. If you're the first one to enter the price positions in 10 poker fest tourneys you're eligeble for 2.5K$ and an ipad. but I think that it has already been reached. I'll try enyways :)

Friday: Well in in a 100K tourney, but messed up :(

I was lucky to catch a set in queens (3 queens with a pair on my hand) when a guy hit AA. That paid off very well in friday. But later on I tried to go for a straight and slow played a pair of kings. Both times I reduced my chips too much. There's no room for error when I play the big tourneys because then there's some good players.

43/1067 in another pokerfest tourney.

It's more training for getting to the top rather than enioyment. It took 7½ hours and only resulted in 89$. Bad hourly wage. But good training. Tomorrow I'll have the day off and spend with my girlfriend.

Doves and handyman, Aaargh!

I can't seem to get my sleep when I play into the night? This morning an idiot dove in front of my window was playing Pavarotti. I scared it away. But then the handyman who is cutting tiles who also cut yesterday starting his outdoor activity right after. I start to think my parents are setting this up as they constantly says "you should get a real job". Aaargh... Double argh!

Pokerfest price positions: 89/830 and 39/1387.

Yep then I hit the price positions in a couple of pokerfest tourneys. 89/830 in a 75K$ GTD and 39/1387 in a 10K$ GTD. The prices weren't big considering that it took 5½ hours for the 75K and 7 hours for the 10K :( But nevertheless an ok achievement to get up there. Man I got to sleep now. Later folks ;)

13/432 in a 10K GTD

Unfortunately that didn't rain gold. But getting this far in itself is an achievement. Aaand shows that I can reach the top seats in this tournament. Poker fest keeps rollin' let's see what tomorrow brings goodnight ;)

What a lucky fish

This makes it difficult to win :(

Important conclusion

Due to the fact that it is relatively seldom that I hit the final tables although I play with the odds in my back, I conclude that it is darn important that when I finally reach the final tables that I focus. This sounds obvious of course but when I get there I need to pull myself up and see if I can reach top 3 where the interesting prices are.

Loosing approx. every favored hand today.

Pokerfest didn't do me any good at all. I've been in favor many times today but little did it help when I'm unlucky all the time. So damn frustrating. Luckily the buyins weren't that big so I didn't loose super much. But it's so frustrating. Nevertheless probably continuing tomorrow after work. Till next time ;)

Poker fest @ partypoker + part time off.

Alrighty, the poker future looks interesting. Party poker is running their annual pokerfest - http://partypoker.com/promotions/pokerfest/schedule.html from Sunday and two weeks forward. At the same time I've been granted part time off my work as the site is closing down soon. That combined with two $99 entries and 1 $55 entry won makes it possible to reach some dollalitas. At least some interesting poker is up ;)

I can't play this:

Either the dude I was playing against in this hand when I had the kings, had a brain tumor or he didn't give a sh*t about money, pre-flop:

Flop:

Turn I go allin:

2nd place in a 1k GTD

Getting me in comfortable plus today as well :)

Today first bad beat

A genious goes allin on the flop with his 5s:

I smell something fishy and I call (good one I might add). And he's preeetty lucky to catch his 5 on the river and sends me out of this 2K GTD 33$ freezeout instead of sending me to the price positions. I'm well in on a 1.5K€ GTD tourney which we'll see how that'll go.

FINALYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

By Jupiters peepee it's about time I hit some coin! Ending 2/307 in a 4.5K$ GTD and bringing some needed (AND WELL DESERVED!!) tournament earnings to the bankroll after ~6 hours of gaming. Sigh! Right on right on right oooooooooooon (Opera voice!).

Twice aces, twice all in, twice lost.

Same tournament. First was a 2 way and the second was a 3 way. Nothing can really surprise me anymore.

Week summed up: crap.

I reduced my bankroll, but not so much I'm getting scared for loosing my poker holdings. The week has been different from the other poker vacation weeks were I have had surplusses of earnings. The reason is a combo of bad luck and maybe playing too many concurrent games. Too many concurrent games can result in not getting the needed info from the different tourneys to make the right decisions. The alternative is to play less turneys of course, but then it wears the patience. I got to find a good balance. But the mayor reason is definitely bad luck - loosing a 96% chance fx should only happen 4/100 time but has been more frequent. Therefore my biggest goal which I'm looking forward to is to play for a month. But that will prooobably first happen in August. I will likely increase the tourney representation in the near future after next week and likely also some more positive news on this blog ;)

Blessed with some more bad luck in the last tourney.

Sitting with AK in the last tourney on Big Blind. One dude raises 3xBB and the lowestack is allin. I call the lowstack and the one raising calls as well. It's a crap flop but I don't give a darn so I'm allin. Raising dude has my outs (AK) and the allinner gets his pretty little full house. Now I'm lowstack and go allin with A3s. Called by the chiplead with QT and he hits his stuff. This is the worst poker period EVER! - Time for vacation! See you in a week or two and have a nice easter ;)

In hindsight I should maybe have folded. But AK... you don't get 'em everyday.. And if you never risk it you never win. But what was I thinking! A coinflip (50%) at the best. Tsk!

Lowstack with KK.. Beaten by AA.

Yes, rather unfortunate that a guy has the rockets (AA) when I'm allin with KK.. Hehe, getting a little indifferent here. This sends me out of a 7.5K GTD freezeout.

Another "bad beat" sends me out of a 16k GTD..

I'm short stack and sets a guy who has raised allin. He calls with AJ which beats my AQ. Doing the right thing again but no effect. Man I'm looking forward to get some days off of poker soon!... Even though I know I'll miss it soon :)

Almost crying now :(

Pre-flop allin with QQ:

What's behind magic card #4?????? ........     J! And river = crap.

4 price positions, two final tables.

Unfortunately it wasn't the big dough rolling, but I definitely proved that I can end up in the price positions. And finally I wasn't badbeated all day! At one point I almost shaking and cold-sweating pressed call on an allin with the kings. For once they held and I got a lot of chips. I've started writting down how I go out in the tourneys and that seems to help. Right now I'm a little pissed off after playing 5 hours 15mins and see my KK loose to JJ just before the money started to get interesting in a 10K GTD tourney - I ended 22/471 which is pretty decent when I think about it. Well maybe tomorrow will bring me fame and fortune.

Not giving up!

Sun is shining and I almost got a decent night of sleep so here we go again. There's a small rebuy tourney at 12 and on so I'll try to rock some fish (unexperienced players - see link of poker terms in lower right corner of the blog) there ;). First I need to grab some breakfast and some stuff at the post office. And if I can make it some small excercise to oxidize the brain :)

Doing feedback

So I continously want to get better with poker. Therefore I've started focussing on why I go out in some tournaments .. hehe... to avoid that. Yesterday I went out with AK on a low-low-A flop. A guy in late position had raised but the probability for him having the aces was pretty low. Nevertheless he had them and my stack was severely reduced. This would be a matter of wether or not I should risk the stack but the blinds were high and I didn't have a read on him.

For the love of

Getting a straight on turn:

River 9s. As we speak I just flopped a straight against the same dude. This time he paid as he had flopped 2 pair. About time for some mathematical justice!

SPEECHLESS!!

Man! somebody is testing my patience. It takes incredible large amount of disciplin not to be impacted by a double loss with the aces. First I loose againt KJs. Then I loose to A4 - a 91% chance. Luckily it's just step 1 at the price of 3$. But seriously! What is this?!

Symptomatic for my current downperiod...

Loosing a full house with aces to a royal flush on the river.... (that's a 1-outer) also know as a 98% chance in my favor. Luckily it was only a 11$ SnG but wtf!?

Bad beat hell :(

I've lost the vast mojority of my allins today. It topped on the turn of a tourney where I patiently had slow-played the Aces and set a guy allin. He calls, shows me the QQs and river, ta-daaaa Q. Very, VERY frustrating!! And the majority of 2/3 chances lost. Far our. BUT! I still managed to get in the money in a couple of tourneys and I rocked the SnGos. So a litlle up today and it looks very promising for the week as I'm feeling I'm getting fine tuned. Let's rock!

Last tourney this night and in the price positions.

10K$ GTD freezeout. I'm low-stack and have AK a dude before me has made a small raise indicating he has a pair or some relatively good. I'm allin and see his 22's and the flop AA ..... twooooooooo. Hehe somebody is playing with me. BUT! I played decently in the end and I'm up for the poker week :) Goodnight!

A beaten man :(

I think I've lost with the aces 3 times or so tonight. Ok in the 200K GTD it was lacking routine that send me out against a set in 6's. In the 50K€ GTD on Mermaid I call an allin with also AA. A dude has flushdraw and the aces are blasphemicaly killed. In a 33$ rebuy 7.5K$ GTD at the final table the chip lead raises before me and I'm allin with QQ and ~40K (~5times his raised). The idiot calls with A3 and hits his A and 3 and takes some deserved bucks from me. Trying some shorthanded freezeout now. Tommorow I initiate the pokerweek #4 to see if I can live from this stuff. I also hit the price positions in the 5K€ GTD rebuy. But only little dough. But now it's time to rock!.. And beat some fish a-vent.
